American Recidivists Eugene Levy, Jason Biggs, Stifler Reuniting for 'American Reunion'

March 16, 2011

When we last heard about the writing/directing team behind Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay working on a fourth (or eighth, if you can remember the spin-off films) American Pie script, it was said "at least some of the original cast is interested in coming back for the new picture." At the time, I logically assumed that meant Eugene Levy was interested in coming back for the new picture, because Eugene Levy will put his face on as many American Pie DVD covers as you'll pay him to raise his iconic eyebrows on, but as it turns out, other Pie alumni are also game for picking up a quick paycheck.

The Hollywood Reporter claims Universal has signed Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott--and Levy, naturally--to the sequel, which is being called American Reunion. Fellow co-stars Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, and Jennifer Coolidge are also in talks to rejoin the cast, and considering most of their careers (Thomas Ian Nicholas is not the star Rookie of the Year may have led you to believe he'd become), I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few of their noticeably sorrowful faces, either.

Writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg will also be directing, and upon completion of the film, Eugene Levy will at last be presented with the apple pie-faced Rolex he's been staying with the company in the hopes of finally earning. At least I'd fucking hope so.
