His tenure with the Las Vegas Police Departement's crime scene investigation unit having drawn to a close, Laurence Fishburne is going to bring his iconic diastema the declining newspaper industry now. The actor and chief pharmacist of The Matrix has reportedly been cast as Perry White in Zack Snyder's attempt at a Superman film, Man of Steel. For those not caught up on their Lois & Clark, White is the short-tempered, "Great Caesar's ghost"-shouting editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, the paper that employs Lois Lane and Superman-with-Glasses. On film, he was last played by Frank Langella in Superman Returns, and before that by Jackie Cooper in the Christopher Reeve films. Fishburne will be the first African-American to play the part, thus bringing us one step closer to Superman supporting cast equality. Good news for black Superman cosplayers: You don't have to be Steel again this year.
