Unlike our uncaring parents, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are supplying us with more Legos than just some scattered space parts, paned house windows you can't use for anything good, and the back half of a pirate ship. We're getting the branded shit, you guys: DC superhero Legos.
Variety reports Miller and Lord's Lego film will feature appearances by both Lego Batman and Lego Superman, and already a cast is forming to fill those cylindrical heads with hopes and dreams and gravelly, intense voices. GMC trucks vocal talent Will Arnett will lend his voice to Lego Batman, while, if scheduling can be worked out, Channing Tatum will reteam with his 21 Jump Street directors to play Lego Superman, because Channing Tatum is now the official voice of being muscley.
Parks and Recreation's Chris Pratt has also joined the cast in the lead role as Emmet, a character described as, "an ordinary, law-abiding, Lego mini-figure who is mistaken for the most extraordinary MasterBuilder. He's drafted into a fellowship of strangers on a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together." To go with this loose plot summary, the film has also been given an official title: Lego: The Piece of Resistance. Even with a Lego Superman involved, they're going to avoid the "Quest for Piece" pun. Good for them.
