Following the accepted superhero sequel paradigm that you could always use a few more bad guys in there, Marvel has hired on Lost and soon-to-be Bullet to the Head star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje to add two more villains to Thor: The Dark World.
Variety reports the actor will start the film as the most powerful of the Dark Elves, Algrim the Strong, whom fellow Dark Elf bad guy Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston) coerces into a fight with Thor that ends with Malekith opening up a pit meant to swallow both combatants. However, Malekith's plan forgot to account for how, oh, right, Thor can fly, and Algrim alone drops into the pit; thanks to his magic armor and soap opera contrivances, he survives but has amnesia and later returns as Kurse, a new villain said to be twice as strong as Thor--and have you seen that dude's arms?
Akinnuoye-Agbaje joins a cast that also includes returning stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Stellan Skarsgard, Rene Russo, Kat Dennings, and Idris Elba--the actor who originally broke through the comic book's unspoken color barrier to play Heimdall, much to the dismay of the world's crazy, white-supremacist Thor fanatics. This is just the fully-integrated Asgard they always feared was fictionally coming.
