Ninth Doctor Joins 'Thor 2', Will Be Accursed

August 2, 2012

If you're into both comic books and Doctor Who--and judging by some of the costumes at comic conventions, this doesn't seem to be an entirely unlikely situation--get ready for the cross-over news of your fan-fiction dreams.

English actor and Ninth Doctor Christopher Eccleston, who more recently had his head chromed out for G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, has reportedly joined the cast of Marvel's Thor: The Dark World. According to Deadline, he'll be going up against Chris Hemsworth's largish hammer as Malekith the Accursed, the Edgar Winter-haired ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, if that means anything to you. In the comics universe, Malekith has put aside differences to team with Loki in the past, so a similar scenario can probably be expected to play out on-screen. Here's hoping for Tom Baker as Ulik.
