New 'Looney Tunes' Movie Coming from Jenny Slate

September 20, 2012

Warner Bros. is going to marry live-action actors and Looney Tunes once again, this time with the repeatedly confirmed knowledge that Brendan Fraser and CGI wildlife is an always-terrible idea.

The studio has hired former Saturday Night Live cast member Jenny Slate to write a script for an all-new Looney Tunes film to welcome us back to the Space Jam glory days, reports THR. The idea is to make a comedy that, like Space Jam and 2003's Looney Tunes: Back in Action, will blend live action and cartoons, but this time maybe without Jenna Elfman constituting so much of the live action.

Slate's involvement comes after the comedian's cruel hazing into the world of live-action/CG-animal hybrids with the role of Zoe in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. She also co-wrote and provided the voice for Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, the cute little stop-motion short that you probably watched and shared on Facebook. If not, here it is. Pretend the shell is a neotenic yellow bird and we're halfway there.
