Star Trek's J.J. Abrams Is Directing Star Wars, Too
Is this guy a nerd or what?
As first reported by TheWrap--and now backed up by other sources--Star Trek rebooter J.J. Abrams is a "done deal" to direct Star Wars: Episode VII: The One Where the Lightsaber Glow Will Really Fuck with the Lens.
The director has on multiple occasions denied he would take the job, saying, "because of my loyalty to Star Trek and also just being a fan, I wouldn't even want to be involved in the next version of those things." But, as it turns out, that was just some classic Abrams misdirection, as he is now very much involved in those things, the first of which is currently being written by Toy Story 3 scribe Michael Arndt, who should now count on his work being convoluted by at least one Lost and/or Fringe staffer.
Disney and Lucasfilm have not yet confirmed the news, but if true, Abrams is expected to easily win this semester's Sci-Fi Club presidency.
