Chris Pratt To Play Star-Lord, Which Is the Name of Marvel's Main 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Guy
After a couple months of indecision, during which they reportedly considered and/or testing Eddie Redmayne, Jim Sturgess, Joel Edgerton, Lee Pace, Jack Huston, James Marsden, Garrett Hedlund, Sullivan Stapleton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zachary Levi, Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell, and Cam Gigandet for the lead in Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel has decided to say fuck off to all those guys by instead casting Chris Pratt.
The ever-likable Parks & Recreation and Zero Dark Thirty star is reportedly attached to play the not-that-likable Peter Quill, a human-alien hybrid who eventually becomes the hero Star-Lord, head guardian of the Guardians of the Galaxy and owner of a sentient ship cleverly named "Ship." Pratt is the first to join the cast, though Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey have been rumored to be in talks to provide a talking raccoon voice and a name with more recognition than Chris Pratt or Star-Lord.
Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled for release August of next year. It will star Chris Pratt as a character named Star-Lord, and maybe feature Adam Sandler as the voice of the lovable but irreverent Rocket Raccoon!
