Cate Blanchett To Star in HBO's 'Cancer Vixen'

The amount of breasts examined on HBO programming will soon not be something we can joke about, as the network is reportedly now developing Cancer Vixen, a film about one New York woman's struggle with breast cancer.

Deadline reports Cate Blanchett is attached to star in the project, based on New Yorker cartoonist Marisa Acocella Marchetto's autobiographical graphic novel about her 2004-05 cancer fight, which she battled without health insurance. Writers and other talent aren't yet attached, but the film is said to be on the fast track now that an Oscar-winner is attached to play the "shoe-crazy, lipstick-obsessed, wine-swilling, pasta-slurping, fashion-fanatic, about-to-get-married big-city girl." Hey, sounds like Sex and the City! But now Mr. Big is cancer. Hopefully still played by Chris Noth.
