Zach Braff Kickstarting Another Zach Braff Movie

Remember Zach Braff: The Movie (aka Garden State)? Well, now nearly a decade later, Braff is at last planning Zach Braff: The Movie: Part II as a thematic follow-up. So, inspired by the success of the Veronica Mars revival and the creative freedom of convincing fans to foot production costs outside the ticket price, he's taken his project to Kickstarter. Zach Braff would like $2 million.

Titled I Wish I Was Here, the new script lets Braff grow up to now be a 30-something who's directionless and staring silently into the camera. He'll play:

"Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor, father and husband, who at 35 is still trying to find his identity; a purpose for his life. He and his wife are barely getting by financially and Aidan passes his time by fantasizing about being the great futuristic Space-Knight he'd always dreamed he'd be as a little kid.

When his ailing father can no longer afford to pay for private school for his two kids (ages 5 and 12) and the only available public school is on its last legs, Aidan reluctantly agrees to attempt to home-school them."

And here's Braff's video appeal, featuring cameos from Scrubs co-star Donald Faison and fellow nerderatti Chris Hardwick and Jim Parsons. That probably earned them their $30 stream-it-online reward right there.
