Dan Harmon Asked Back into 'Community'

May 28, 2013

Sony Pictures Television seems to have joined everyone else in wishing Community would just go back to how it was before. The studio is reportedly looking to give the cult comedy back to creator and former showrunner Dan Harmon following a very public falling out and, more recently, a fourth season that wasn't so great. Hollywookiee (via) claims Harmon said so himself, telling the audience of his Harmontown podcast that he'd been asked to return to Community in an unspecified capacity. He followed up the comment with a plea for the comment to be edited out, but then decided "fuck it" and joked that he'd only come back if former star/detractor Chevy Chase also returned. It's not yet clear how serious these talks really are, but considering the terms both sides parted on, and that Harmon already has new sitcoms going at CBS and Fox, it's hard to imagine they're all that serious. Much easier to imagine things will continue as there are, the study group will become Hanna-Barbera-style characters for some reason, and the fifth season will close on Abed bringing a mannequin to life.
