The Marvel film set to feature a giant tree man may have yet another plant-like countenance in its midst: the tuberous head of John C. Reilly.
According to HitFix, Reilly may be the latest to join the increasingly, bizarrely eclectic cast of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. If he takes Marvel's offer, he'd join Chris Pratt, a professional wrestler, nerdy space veteran Zoe Saldana, and possibly Adam Sandler and/or Jim Carrey to play Rhomann Dey, a character described as "the Agent Coulson of the Guardians movies ... the human agent who serves as a go-between, keeping the Guardians in line and reporting to SHIELD about their activities."
What makes the part more surprising is that Dey, in the comics, is a superhero himself. He was the original Nova, a powerful alien who bestowed his abilities and showy helmet to an Earthling before dying. It's not yet clear if those aspects of the character will be explored or if this will just be John C. Reilly talking to a space raccoon--which, to be honest, is already plenty otherworldly for me.
