'Paradise' Trailer: Diablo Cody's Directorial Debut a Heartwarming Burn Victim Story

paradise-trailer-1.jpg

Diablo Cody makes her directorial debut, and it looks like just barely not a Nickelodeon film, with her latest comedy, Paradise. As the Dancing with the Stars-winning Darkman of her generation, Footloose's Julianne Hough stars as a girl who gets horribly burned--save for her face, still needed for the posters and such--pushing her to abandon her religious upbringing, take her insurance payout, and go to Vegas, America's home of recklessly abandoning money and innocence. There, she meets Russell Brand's trashy-bartender-with-a-heart-of-gold and Octavia Spencer's trashy-lounge-singer-with-a-heart-of-gold. Since those two have no other worries in their lives, they help her create and accmoplish a benign bucket list of modest sins to commit. Lighthearted fun is had, and lessons are learned and taken back to parents Holly Hunter and Nick Offerman, much as Hough previously brought dancing to Dennis Quaid. She's really making change, one stern, conservative dad archetype at a time.
