Having prepared herself through the antiseptic sci-fi dystopia of a Tom Cruise marriage, extreme method actor Katie Holmes is reportedly prepared to use her experiences in The Weinstein Company and Walden Media's adaptation of The Giver. She joins Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, and Australian newcomer Brenton Thwaites in the film, which is being directed by Salt's Phillip Noyce. Thwaites is playing Jonas, the young lead destined to become The Receiver--the one who knows all the horrible secrets future society has been covering up so that they might live pleasantly oblivious to all that bullshit. Holmes will play the mother who enables the controlling society's strict rules despite what it might mean for her child. Really hitting it on the nose with this thing, aren't they?
