'Star Blazers' Adaptation Coming from 'Jack Reacher' Writer-Director

Though he already has another Mission: Impossible and an Ice Station Zebra remake on his schedule, Jack Reacher writer-director Christopher McQuarrie is signing on for yet another project he could potentially power on Tom Cruise's frenetic locomotion. Deadline reports McQuarrie is attached to Star Blazers, an adaptation of the '70s space anime known in Japan and other regions as Space Battleship Yamato. He was already set to write the film back in 2011, but now he'll also direct for David Ellison's Skydance Productions, thus drastically increasing the chances of finding Cruise in space, where no one can hear him intensely rant.
