Tom Cruise Returning to Cars Instead of Always Just Running Around

October 24, 2013

Tom Cruise and his Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski may re-team for a new, wild concept that will imagine Cruise as an actual human being. Should negotiations work out, Cruise would play racer and designer Carroll Shelby in Go Like Hell, Fox's adaptation of the A.J. Baime non-fiction book subtitled "Ford, Ferrari, and their Battle For Speed and Glory at Le Mans." As Shelby, Cruise would play the former driver who partnered with Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca to try to reinvent Ford as a slick speed brand able to take down the dominant Ferrari in France's famed 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Being familiar with some racing history, I can tell you they do pretty alright. And being familiar with Tom Cruise racing history, I can tell you that with a day-long race ahead of him, Cruise is going to go through so much Mello Yello.
