Seeing George Clooney as Caesar, long a priority for Clooney's barber, has now become a priority for the Coen brothers as well. Speaking to Thompson on Hollywood (via), Joel Coen revealed "there's a good chance" their next film will be Hail Caesar, a comedy meant to round out the directors' uneven "Numbskull Trilogy" of Clooney buffoonery, as seen previously in Intolerable Cruelty and O Brother, Where Art Thou? Older interviews with the Coens and the film's would-be star revealed that Clooney would play an old matinee idol making a biblical epic, and to that synopsis Ethan Coen now adds: "It's about the movie business and life and religion and faith. Faith and the movie business. It's still George." Not since a childhood evening watching America's Funniest Home Videos have I more anticipated seeing someone oblivious get smacked in the face with a sandal.
