Netflix Now Making 'Turbo' Series That Will Be Extremely Extreme

turbo-teaser.jpg

Continuing their commitment to producing awards-contending, mature programming to compete with the likes of AMC and HBO, Netflix has announced Turbo FAST, a series about that cartoon snail that sucked up some nitrous oxide and partially became a car somehow. Launching on Christmas Eve, redundantly-titled show picks up the concept and characters of DreamWorks Animation's Turbo and "amps up everything to the extreme: extreme adventures, extreme challenges, and extreme excitement." Binge-watch only if you are an ultra-rad dude, please.

As you can see in the below trailer, though, some things have noticeably changed beyond all that added extremity. Now the animation has a new, stylized 2-D look to it, and Ryan Reynolds couldn't be paid enough to do the voice. But you can rest assured: Turbo still sounds like a really handsome snail, as now Veep's Reid Scott stars in the title role. The majority of the remaining voice cast hasn't yet been revealed, but it is confirmed that of course Ken Jeong is up for it.
