'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Has This Other Villain That Isn't Ultron
Though it's already well established that James Spader's Ultron will be the main villain of next year's Avengers sequel, it seems Hulk and the gang may also be facing off against a mean old baron. Marvel's latest big casting news is reportedly that NBC's Dracula co-star Thomas Kretschmann has signed on to play additional "major villain" Baron Wolfgang von Strucker in The Age of Ultron.
In the comics, Strucker was a Nazi who later went on to help shape a less historically-accurate but just as well-uniformed evil group, the entity known as Hydra. (An anti-aging serum is all the explanation needed for why he's somehow still alive and functional.) For the film, he's said to mostly play antagonist to Nick Fury and Captain America, which makes some sense--with his bald head and fucked-up-yet-adorned eye, he's a strong evil analog for Fury, while his Nazi ties make him a natural foe to Cap. Also, unlike the inhumanly powerful android Ultron, he is susceptible to being bonked in the head with a shield.
