From Vanity Fair and famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, here are some newly-released shots of people looking really pensive on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Firstly, above, we have a moody Adam Driver being so upset that he didn't wear his thicker accordion sleeves for this weather. The official caption accompanying the photo confirms that the Girls star is playing Kylo Ren, a leader in "the evil First Order" and, yes, owner of the lightsaber where it's got littler lightsabers sticking out at the bottom.
From the caption: "Dashing Resistance pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) stands alongside his trusty X-wing fighter." Like we needed someone to tell us he's dashing. We've got eyes, Vanity Fair.
Lupita Nyong'o covered in little tracking dots to be CGI'd into an alien pirate named Maz Kanata.
Some other aliens loitering around Kanata's castle. Though no specific characters are named here, it seems pretty obvious that this large, reclining guy is the coolest dude in the galaxy. A beautiful woman on one arm, a beautiful old gaunt man on the other--plus he seems to have an actual Chain Chomp.
J.J. Abrams shows Daisy Ridley (playing Rey) where the lens flares of twin suns will be shining from.
Star Wars franchise composer John Williams, producer and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, The Force Awakens co-writer Lawrence Kasdan, and director and co-writer Abrams show how they'd pose for the back cover of an album called "The Force Awakens."
John Boyega, Daisey Ridley, and Harrison Ford pretend not to notice how creepy Chewbacca's face is.
