Never shy about taking the free upgrade from "frighteningly peculiar man" to "actual monster," Ron Perlman has reportedly signed on to play his latest freak thing. The actor who has previously played a hulking devil man, the "beast" of Beauty and the Beast, this gross dude from Star Trek: Nemesis, a Mutant Chronicles mutant and other terrible things is now set to play a goblin in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, the Harry Potter prequel spin-off about some really amazing creatures and where exactly one would locate those. Colin Farrell, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Jon Voight, and Samantha Morton are already set to star in the film, with Eddie Redmayne playing the lead as author and "magizoologist" Newt Scamander. Given that goblins in the Harry Potter universe have generally been portrayed as small--as Warwick Davis-height, to be specific--it's unclear whether Perlman will be an abnormally massive goblin, will be shrunk through digital and camera trickery, or will merely provide a voice. But as per the standard Ron Perlman contract, he'll be forced to spend half a day bound to a makeup chair regardless.
