First 'Doctor Strange' Trailer Introduces Marvel's Magical Cumberbatch

The first trailer for Doctor Strange is here, and by initial appearances, it would seem this is in some ways Marvel's Batman Begins--at least in all the Christopher Nolan tropes they've crammed in here. Such as: the scruffy, Himalayan hermit version of the otherwise wealthy, dapper lead; the gratuitous overhead city shots; the surreally folding, Incepted cityscapes; the wise, Asian sensei who it turns out is a white person from Narnia; and a UK actor doing a questionably throaty voice as an American superhero.

That UK actor is Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the titular hero and seems to have borrowed all of Hugh Laurie's House tips on how to sound like a US doctor strongly reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes. Chiwetel Ejiofor co-stars as Baron Mordo, a peer and ally who, as one could guess by his sinister name, definitely turns evil. Mads Mikkelsen plays the main baddie, who is not yet named but seems to have let a case of pink eye get really out of hand. And Tilda Swinton plays Strange's mentor, The Ancient One, who seems to have taken the form of that sexy bald lady from Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
