At long last, the student has become the even older student. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joel McHale has signed on to play his former Community co-star Chevy Chase in A Futile and Stupid Gesture, Netflix's film about National Lampoon co-founder Douglas Kenney. Wet Hot American Summer's David Wain is directing, and Will Forte is already attached to play Kenney. Chase, meanwhile, will surely be thrilled to hear this news, as McHale once said to Howard Stern of Chase, "He physically wanted to fight me."

The Wrap adds that Broad City and Fat Guy Stuck in Internet's John Gemberling has joined the film as John Belushi, so at least there's that, Chevy. It could have been Dan Harmon.
