Remember back before we were sure if Cloverfield was actually called Cloverfield, when JJ Abrams showed us some shaky camera footage and some people shouting and told us to get excited for monsters or something? Well, get ready to be slightly intrigued again! Apparently a teaser trailer for Super 8, the next project he's lending his producer stamp to, will be attached to prints of Iron Man 2, and Vulture has the word on what you'll be seeing: even more amateur footage of freaks--now on an even more primitive camera equipment!
Spoilers if you're kind of person who thinks a promotional trailer can be spoiled:
Insiders familiar with the trailer tell us that it shows a bunch of kids who are shooting a movie with a Super 8 camera in the seventies or eighties. When they develop the film, they notice that there's an alien creature in the frame. Our sources also say that Super 8 is absolutely connected to 2008's Cloverfield (possibly a prequel, but not a sequel).
I can't wait to see it converted to 3-D!
UPDATE: Abrams has now told Vulture, "You have to check [out the trailer], but it has nothing whatsoever to do with Cloverfield, despite your expert reporting." So there you go.
