Back in November, rumor was Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner had plans to capitalize on his "hey, wasn't that guy in that Locker Room movie?" fame with a turn as the heroic marksman Hawkeye in the Avengers film. Shortly after word got out, all sides of course denied knowledge of everything and it all faded into the Superhero Movie Rumor Ether--until now! It has reemerged as Superhero Movie Probable-Fact in the cyberpages of the Hollywood Reporter:
Jeremy Renner is in final negotiations to join "The Avengers," Marvel Studios' big-screen take on its superhero team that's being directed by Joss Whedon.
Renner will play the bow-and-arrow-carrying hero Hawkeye, who, while not one of the initial members of the team when it was created in the 1960s, became an integral member soon after when the misguided villain switched sides.
Clever, Marvel. The timing of the film introduction of this bow & arrow superhero is coinciding perfectly with the release of Robin Hood renewing America's complete apathy for archery.
