'Journey to the Center of the Earth' Sequel Gets a Dwayne Johnson

September 1, 2010

Dwayne Johnson, having proven himself a capable and trustworthy child adventure chaperon by not molesting anyone on the race to Witch Mountain, will once again go along on a kidventure for New Line's Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D sequel. Heat Vision reports the actor will play Josh Hutcherson's mom's boyfriend, filling in for Brendan Fraser, who's' probably too busy with Furry Vengeance 2. The film, which has been given the desperately Step Up 2: The Streets-esque title of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (GET IT), will follow Hutcherson and Johnson journeying to a mysterious island, appropriately enough, where they'll try to rescue the missing Grandpa Hutcherson. My hopes for this film have just been raised from "maybe Brendan Fraser won't spit directly at me in 3-D this time" to "maybe we can get another wacky The Rock Reaction Shot meme out of this."
