What Might Darren Aronofsky Direct Today?

October 8, 2010

On the tail of rumors he'd direct Superman (that didn't happen) or the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, there's now another project that Darren Aronofsky may or may not do. In an interview with Quién, Babel screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga revealed his adaptation of John Vaillant's The Tiger: A True Story of Vengance and Survival will begin shooting next year--with Aronofsky behind the camera and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in front, so someone's gonna need a babysitter. Tiger's story--a man versus beast (tiger) tale set in a remote Russian village--sounds a lot more like a Darren Aronofsky film than anything with the word "Wolverine" in the title, so I wouldn't be too surprised if the director does pass over that big superhero movie paycheck for this. That is, unless he forces himself to truthfully answer the question, "But wouldn't it be cooler if it were a man with indestructible metal claws fighting the tiger?"
