Have Some Casting News, Everyone

November 2, 2010

- Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way has acquired the right to Erik Larson's (not the Savage Dragon guy) non-fiction book The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic And Madness At The Fair That Changed America, and plans are being made to adapt it with DiCaprio playing Chicago serial killer H.H. Holmes, a doctor "who used the fair to lure his victims to their death in his elaborately constructed 'Murder Castle.'" So that's how they're going to continue the Saw series.

- More Hobbit people have been named: Jekyll's James Nesbitt and newcomer Adam Brown will be playing dwarfs Bofur and Ori, respectively. Sir Ian McKellen, meanwhile, told BroadwayWorld he's not yet under contract to appear in the film, ominously foreshadowing the next thing that's going to go wrong with this production.

- Now that Mel Gibson has been stricken from the cast, allowing for additional non-white actors, Jamie Chung has signed on to join The Hangover 2. She'll be playing Ed Helms's fiancée, so I guess things didn't work out with Heather Graham (credits spoiler!).
