Just for the record: Mark Wahlberg, like every human that is not M. Night Shyamalan, does not care for The Happening.
At a recent press conference for The Fighter, the subject of Wahlberg working with co-star Amy Adams came up, leading to a reveal that Adams was almost cast in the M. Night Shyamalan film. And since you can't really bring up The Happening without immediately talking shit about it, that happened, too. Said Wahlberg (spoilers if you didn't know that the twist of The Happening is that it's "fucking trees, man"):
We’d actually had the luxury of having lunch before to talk about another movie, and it was a bad movie that I did. She dodged the bullet. I don’t want to tell you what movie… All right, The Happening with M. Night Shyamalan. It is was it is. Fucking trees, man, the plants. Fuck it. You can’t blame me for wanting to try to play a science teacher. You know? I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook.
By that logic, I guess we can't blame him for Planet of the Apes, either.
