Lionsgate has been eager to move on their adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies--quickly, before people start to realize it's literally just Pride and Prejudice with a cheap pop culture reference tacked on--and word is they'll soon be choosing a director for the project. The issue is, they don't really know who that will be. David O. Russell was once the top contender, but now that he's decided to do a video game movie instead, they're going to have to sort something else out.
According to the LA Times, the name that keeps coming up for the job is Mike White. Though he only has one directing job on his curriculum vitae (2007's Year of the Dog), some studio heads seem to think the School of Rock writer has just what they need to balance the elements of comedy, genre action, and period romance--despite that White has really only done the comedy part of that trio, so they really have no reason to think that. I guess that's just the kind of confidence one projects after they've done a season of The Amazing Race.
