Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, and Ashton Kutcher are all reportedly in talks with New Line to join New Year's Eve, Garry Marshall's attempt at topping his own Valentine's Day's ensemble rom-com awfulness. If it all works out, Pfeiffer would play an executive secretary rushing to finish last year's resolutions before swearing to use her gym membership again next year; Swank would be a Times Square New Year's Eve show producer (presumably one who finds love while instructing Ryan Seacrest to speak on cue). De Niro's looking at playing "a bitter dying man in a hospital," while Kutcher would play "a guy who hates New Year's Eve," which is no doubt setting up some last minute father/son anger-forgiveness à la Magnolia. "God damn you, dad, for making me hate New Year's Eve so much! Why did you subject me to so many viewings of 200 Cigarettes? I hate you... but I love you, you bastard!"
