America's Most Ubiquitous Non Sequitor Dispensers Teaming Up

December 6, 2010

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis--two of our most prominent big, curly-haired buffoon characters--are reportedly teaming up to play big, curly-haired, surely-buffoonish rival political candidates in a new film from Dinner for Schmucks director Jay Roach. Though, superficially, the film sounds pretty broad and expected, the still-untitled comedy (Just a Coupl'a Retards? We Just Figured Out How 'Step Brothers' Could Have Made Another Twenty Mill?) boasts a fairly impressive script pedigree, written by The Other Guys' Chris Henchy and Eastbound and Down writer Shawn Harwell, so there's reason to believe the inevitable shouted boasts and juvenile insults could end up being pretty funny. Warner Bros. is hoping to time the film's release with the 2012 presidential election, holding a fun house mirror up for our actual political candidates to gaze into and consider: are you truly much more mature? "Yes," they'll answer, typically after the scene in which Galifianakis and Ferrell take their shirts off during a debate.
