Alien invasion films are quickly nearing zombie movie-level saturation--and even mutating into fusions with them--but before you go entirely fetal position on the genre, take in the trailer for this upcoming British action-comedy-style alien invasion, Attack the Block. This one stands out because, a.) instead of the military, the aliens go up against a bunch of asshole inner city kids (chavs? Is that what you want me to say, UK people?), and b.) it's written and directed by Joe Cornish, who's co-writing Ant-Man and co-wrote the upcoming Tintin film with the ever-amazing Edgar Wright. Plus: Nick Frost as a scumbag drug dealer. Sound good? Let's continue then.
I wonder if we'll ever get a look at the aliens, or if budget constraints will keep them seeming like isz from The Maxx. Either way, I'm glad I'll have something new to fill the kids-who-I'd-fear-confrontation-with-in-real-life-eventually-becoming-endearing hole I was left with after The Wire ended.
