The Rock Will Do Whatever It Takes, MadTV Guy a Stooge, Snoop Still Getting High, and More

March 23, 2011

- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will star in Ric Roman Waugh's Snitch, playing a blue-collar dad who "risks everything" l to save his falsely-imprisoned son. And risking everything means becoming the Easter Bunny for a week.

- Emma Roberts is attached to star in Adult World, Scott Coffey's coming-of-age drama about a recent graduate and would-be poet who ends up stuck working in a mom-and-pop bookstore. I'm sorry, but there's no way to make that sound less boring.

- MadTV and $#*! My Dad Says actor Will Sasso is reportedly up for one of the leads in The Three Stooges. Probably Curly, because he's bald. Unless they put a wig on him, then maybe either of the other guys.

- Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg will star in Celeste & Jesse, a Jones-scripted romantic-comedy about the difficulty in staying friends following divorce.

- Benicio Del Toro has signed to be in Oliver Stone's adaptation of Savages, and will play a drug enforcer sent to force independent marijuana growers Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch to grow for his boss. The boss role will apparently be played by a woman--possibly Salma Hayek--so forget about Brendan Fraser reprising the part.

- Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg are teaming up for the stoner comedy High School. I'm assured the "high" in "high school" will have a double-meaning.

- Walden Media has revealed the next Narnia movie will be The Magician's Nephew, not the previously-suspected The Silver Chair. No comment from Silverchair.

- Everybody's Fine director Kirk Jones has signed on to direct Lionsgate's rom-com adaptation of What To Expect When You're Expecting. The answer will, unfortunately, not be as simple as a partially-formed little human.
