Back to Singing for Hugh Jackman, Batman Spoilers, and More...

June 16, 2011

- The King's Speech director Tom Hooper is still doing another Les Misérables film, and he'd reportedly like Hugh Jackman for Jean Valjean and Paul Bettany for Inspector Javert. Their on-screen pursuit will mirror their off-screen rivalry to compete for the more forgettable vampire-hunting character, or something!

- Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin will star, respectively, as "a lost, lonesome mother" and a convicted killer taking refuge with her and her child in Jason Reitman's Labor Day. Hey, Reitman, I liked it more when it was called "a really good episode of COPS"!

- In a perfect marriage of oeuvre and project title, Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider director Simon West is going to direct The Expendables 2.

- Apparently Lucasfilms' plan to convert the entire Star Wars series, one by one (beginning with The Phantom Menace, naturally), into 3-D theatrical releases will only continue so long as the films are successful; if they aren't, "then there will be just one [episode converted to 3D]." So be prepared for some possible changes if children suddenly stop liking Star Wars and 3-D shit.

- Oh, and if you want a possible spoiler about The Batman, here's that:

According to HitFix's sources, "none other than Liam Neeson was on the set of "The Dark Knight Rises" on Monday, shooting a scene as Ra's al Ghul." So, resurrection? Flashback? Or just another puzzle of the devious Ladyriddler?
