- Ryan Gosling is going to be so busy being a pro-motorcyclist-turned-criminal, Logan, and in a Gangster Squad that he no longer has time to direct and star in MGM's remake of The Idolmaker. What, does James Franco need to come in and take care of this for you, Gosling?

- Matt Dillon, Craig Robinson, and Brendan Fraser are attached to star in Charles Matthau's adaptation of Elmore Leonard's Freaky Deaky, with production starting in June. The Summer of Fraser continues!

- 30 Rock director Don Scardino will make his feature debut with Burt Wonderstone, a comedy that will star Steve Carell as an elder magician out-shined by a hip, younger illusionist. Are we so soon ready, as a society, to smile at the real-life Copperfield/Angel war?

- Paramount has revealed plans to produce an animated adaption of The New Kid, a Penny Arcade comic about sort of an army brat in space--a comic about which co-creator Mike Krahulik already said his "fantasy is to see Dreamworks, Disney or Nickelodeon make an animated feature or a Saturday morning cartoon out of this one." So congratulations on that almost happening.

- Noting "proper theatre projection is fast becoming a forgotten art," Terrence Malick wrote a letter to the nation's projectionists asking that they follow a set of strict guidelines that were quickly forgotten once they got a tweet from their GF.
