Now in theaters:

Cowboys and Aliens
Director: Jon Favreau
Starring: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde
Good if you want to see: the title pretty much covers it.

Crazy, Stupid, Love
Director: Glenn Ficarra, John Requa
Starring: Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone
Good if you want to see: Carell and Gosling in a Paul Blart/Hitch scenario as Carell re-enters the dating scene and Gosling finds reasons to show his abs.

The Smurfs
Director: Raja Gosnell
Starring: Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria, CGI
Good if you want to see: a live-action Smurfs movie set in New York. Is that what you want to see?

And in the fancy theaters:

Attack the Block (limited)
Director: Joe Cornish
Starring: Nick Frost, John Boyega, Jodie Whittaker
Good if you want to see: chavs versus aliens, as a worthwhile alternative to cowboys fighting aliens.

The Future (limited)
Director: Miranda July
Starring: Miranda July, Hamish Linklater
Good if you want to see: time-manipulation and a talking cat. Why not?

The Devil's Double (limited)
Director: Lee Tamahori
Starring: Dominic Cooper
Good if you want to see: Uday Hussein and the man forced to be his body double, both seemingly living within a '90s rap video.

The Guard (limited)
Director: John Michael McDonagh
Starring: Brendan Gleeson, Don Cheadle
Good if you want to see: a terrible Irish cop and a straight-laced African-American cop doing the buddy-cop-comedy thing.

Life in a Day (limited)
Director:Kevin Macdonald
Starring: random humans
Good if you want to see: YouTube videos people took of themselves strung together into a feature film with, disappointingly, all the worthwhile YouTube crazy people filtered out.
