Elton John Biopic Will Finally Tell the True Story Behind 'Honky Cat'

September 22, 2011

Not content to let Almost Famous, Gnomeo and Juliet, and Timon and Pumbaa get all the credit for his songs, Elton John has decided it's about time his life story makes it to the big screen. So, he and his Rocket Pictures partner, David Furnish, are teaming up with Billy Elliot and War Horse writer Lee Hall for Rocketman, a biopic on the musician that should maybe get Justin Timberlake to star. According to Deadline, the project is being described as "a biographical musical fantasy that will weave together John's life and his music," and will span the artist's life "in a non-linear and hyper-visual manner that will transport people through the many intense experiences, some wonderful, some not, that helped define Elton as an artist, musician and man," which sounds just about as excessively ostentatious as you'd expect an Elton John biopic to be. Though, if it wants to compete against the current high standards of the Rocketman title, it better also have a farting-in-a-spacesuit scene:
