Person Who Isn't Anti-Semitic Madman Also Doing Jewish Hero Film

September 28, 2011

Mel Gibson's plans to co-write, produce, and possibly direct a film about Jewish warrior hero Judah Maccabee, thus clearing him of all wrong-doing against the Jewish people, did not go over so well with Jewish leaders, but maybe producer Bruce Nash will have a better go at it.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nash--producer of such hyperbolic titles as Most Daring, Most Shocking, World's Scariest Ghosts, Sexiest Bachelor in America Pageant, Wow! The Most Awesome Acts on Earth, World's Most Daring Rescues, a series simply called World's Most..., and another 70 or so similar titles--is also working to bring the story of Maccabee and the heroic origins of Hanukkah to screens, and unlike Gibson, he's already prepared to move forward with a finished script from Queen of the Damned writer Scott Abbott.

Of course, while Nash's not-so-unique position as someone who is not specifically known for loathing Jews does have its obvious advantages over being Mel Gibson, not being Mel Gibson does have its drawbacks, too. One would imagine the film's epic scale is likely to suffer as a result of it coming from the producer of Cheating Spouses Caught on Tape 2, and the article warns that the project may never get beyond the TV mini-series level. Though, Gibson's project has Showgirls writer Joe Eszterhas working on the screenplay, so come to think of it, it's unclear just how far removed that will be from TV movie-level, either. One thing is clear, though: this is definitely a Jewish conspiracy, Mel. You should probably have a relaxing drink and make a statement on the matter.
