Thor's Directorial Hammer Entrusted to Director Alan Taylor

December 27, 2011

Well, the daunting, ever-important task of turning Norse mythology into a profitable superhero film w/ Natalie Portman romance has been handed over to Alan Taylor.

Monster director Patty Jenkins departed Thor 2 over creative differences earlier this month, and Disney-Marvel has been moving quick to fill her spot with another workaday place-filler to tell Chris Hemsworth to swing his hammer harder, with more intensity. With his long résumé of work on acclaimed television--including The Sopranos, Mad Men, Bored to Death, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, and other things you keep meaning to catch up on--Taylor fits the bill well, and he'll no doubt bring about a perfectly satisfactory Thor sequel that will hit all the necessary plot points to ensure an on-time, on-budget progression into Thor 3 and/or Avengers 2 and/or a new action figure with Thor in a scuba suit. And that's what it's all about, right?
