Spielberg's Producers Guild Tribute: Remembering All Those Movies Spielberg Got Made

January 23, 2012

Though "director" is the role we most commonly associate with Steven Spielberg--followed closely by the role of George Lucas's overprotective scapegoat--when you look at it, the guy's producing résumé is even more impressive than his personal filmography. In addition to producing the vast majority of his own catalog, he's also served as producer or executive producer on classics like Gremlins, Goonies, Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, An American Tail, HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS, and so many more. As such, what with Steven Spielberg being fucking Steven Spielberg and all, last night he was awarded the Producers Guild's David O. Selznick Career Achievement Award.

As tribute to the man as a producer, the guild and editor Todd Sandler put together the following montage of Spielberg-produced films. It's more than just an elegantly-cut highlight reel; it's also striking evidence that, even when it's not Spielberg immediately behind the camera, you can still always feel it when his guiding hand is there, reaching around to give you his trademark emotional HJ.
