While the last domestic trailer for Brave seemed designed to paint the Pixar film as some kind of Scottish, archery-based commentary on arranged marriage, this newly-translated Japanese trailer takes a vastly different approach--and it's just the one you'd figure Disney would take having watched the films of Hayao Miyazaki. "The Japanese like a mixture of cute and horrific woodland creatures and mercurial forest spirits, right? Okay, let's really hammer that home then."
Brave stars the voices of Kelly MacDonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Craig Ferguson, and more. Not in Japan, though. In Japan, it will be voiced by Japanese people, and they aren't even going to try delivering the Japanese dialogue in a Scottish brogue. For all Japan's technological advancements, there remains no way to filter their native tongue through Billy Connolly's shouting.
