'Hunger Games' Made a Lot of Money Again

April 2, 2012

Your weekend box office:

1. The Hunger Games - $61.1 million. The film has now made nearly $365 million worldwide. My hypothesis is that The Hunger Games is very popular.

2. Wrath of the Titans - $34.2 million, barely over half what Clash of the Titans made opening weekend two years ago. Whoever decided to this time give Sam Worthington more hair is fired.

3. Mirror Mirror - $19 million. Weird, because most people always said they would definitely wait in line to see Nathan Lane and Phil Collins' daughter in a TV movie-level adaptation of Snow White.

4. 21 Jump Street - $15 million, bringing the domestic total to well over twice the film's $42 million budget. If you have a pitch for putting Seth Rogen and Taylor Lautner in a comedic remake of St. Elsewhere, now is the time to get an agent.

5. The Lorax - $8 million, now doubt getting a bump from the excitement over the Lorax's voice starring in a sequel to Twins.
