'Sparkle' Trailer: Meet Whitney Houston's Final Role

April 2, 2012

Some six months ago, casting a remake of Sparkle with a notoriously-troubled singer who hadn't acted since a 1997 Cinderella TV movie didn't seem like such a great idea. But with Sparkle co-star Whitney Houston's life tragically ending at the age of 48, guess who's laughing now. Hopefully no one. She's dead, you monsters. But still, Sony is probably at least somberly nodding, pleased that, with their remake, they have in their hands the last acting performance of the late singer. See a preview below with Sparkle's first trailer, which plays up the Dreamgirls vibe and largely ignores the whole "husband gets the singer horribly addicted to drugs" part, for obvious reasons.
