Madea succeeded in sassing up jail, but how will she fare against an entire prison planet? We may soon find out, as Tyler Perry has revealed that he's in fact "working on a sci-fi movie right now." Hallelujer?
Though Perry's Star Trek part would seem to be the obvious reason for his interest in journeying beyond his fat suit and among the stars, it's actually the Alien franchise we have to thank for sparking Tyler Perry's interest in the genre. Prefacing his statement about making a sci-fi film he's "really excited about" and that may or may not be Madea Goes to Mars, he told BlackFilm:
"I love Sci Fi, I love the Alien movies and the Alien franchise. I was very disappointed with Prometheus, but I love that whole franchise. Those are my favorite movies"
Yes, even a man who proudly earns half his income doing an exaggerated Mrs. Doubtfire act was "very disappointed" in Prometheus. Sadly, Perry did not elaborate on this point, but I think it's safe to assume his disappointment in the film stems from the same place ours does: anger that Guy Pearce's aging prosthetics didn't also make him fat and a woman.
