Edgar Wright Adds J.J. Abrams-Produced Sci-Fi to His To-Do List

July 24, 2012

Why do I get the sense this will be prematurely geek-beloved?

Though he's shooting The World's End in the fall, owes Marvel a shrinking superhero movie, and is making Johnny Depp wait to hunt a vampire, Edgar Wright is reportedly attaching himself to yet another project that sounds pretty promising.

Deadline reports Wright has signed on to direct Collider, a sci-fi film J.J. Abrams is producing under his Bad Robot banner. Wright will also co-write the film's screenplay with Mark Protosevich, who wrote I Am Legend and the upcoming Oldboy remake, and most recently worked on the Jurassic Park IV script. Naturally, with this being a J.J. Abrams thing, all the details of Collider are being kept secret, so any and all collision excitement is going to have to for now come solely from the merging of Wright and Abrams. And the astronomically high chance that Simon Pegg will show up in this.
