If you caught the new Spider-Man and felt it was inaugurating a new trilogy that could again be tossed away in case of a disappointing third act, well done: you were right!
While it's already been widely known that writers are cranking out script for a sequel to the superhero film, news of a third movie popped up unceremoniously on The Amazing Spider-Man's official Facebook page on Monday, where a post read:
"It's finally here! The Amazing Spider-Man is the first installment in a movie trilogy that will explore how our fave hero's journey was shaped by the disappearance of his parents."
Lucky for Sony, a day after their post, their film went on to set a new Tuesday box office record--topping fellow trilogy-starter Transformers--so they are probably still feeling pretty good about this trilogy idea. This assumedly also counts as the announcement that we're getting another Spider-Man reboot by, say, 2015-ish, so start looking forward to that, too. Maybe next time they can get De Niro to be the increasingly-prominent Uncle Ben?
