Warner Bros. endless pursuit of a film adaptation of the arcade game Spy Hunter continues, now with a new director at the wheel that has those cool thumb buttons on top.

Vulture reports Zombieland and Gangster Squad director Ruben Fleischer is the latest director to reluctantly agree to adapt the 1983 Bally Midway game into a film that will presumably concern driving a car, shooting other cars, and sometimes turning into a boat.

John Woo and Dwayne "Tooth Fairy" Johnson were once attached to the project, and later Paul W.S. Anderson had plans to direct, until he he realized his Death Race remake was the best car movie that could ever be made in human/car history. More recently, writer Chad St. John turned in a draft of a script, but Fleischer is said to be starting from scratch on his take, and is currently looking for screenwriters. Ideally, screenwriters not above starting a scene with "INT. WEAPONS VAN - DAY. SPY HUNTER is awash is upgrades for his SWEET CAR."
