'Goosebumps' Movie To Be Made by 'Gulliver's Travels' Guy

March 20, 2013

His adaptation of Gulliver's Travels making clear his adoration for classic literature, Rob Letterman has reportedly entered talks to direct Sony's Goosebumps movie.

A film version of the R.L. Stine series has long been in the works, Columbia Pictures saying back in 2008 that the "time is ripe" to take advantage of the title; apparently, a renewed, lisped enthusiasm has made the time ripe again, so here we go. Letterman wrote and directed both Shark Tale and Monsters vs. Aliens, but it's not clear if he'll be handling this script, nor is it yet clear which book the film will be based on, if any. What is certain is that you still have some nostalgia for ordering Goosebumps in Scholastic catalogs and eagerly awaiting their arrival, and now Sony would like to cash-in on those warm memories. Probably with Jack Black as the voice of an irreverent ventriloquist dummy.
