'Saw' Creator Now Devising Tortures of Another 'Fast & Furious' Movie

April 11, 2013

It's been just a week since director Justin Lin left the Fast & Furious franchise, but already Vin Diesel has got someone else lined up to work the pedals while he does the shifter.

Deadline reports Universal has entered talks with James Wan to now take over the franchise, which is already being prepped for a seventh film and The Rock spin-off based on the assumption the sixth one will probably do okay next month. Wan previously directed Saw and Insidious, and has The Conjuring and Insidious: Chapter 2 arriving later this year. In other words, he's typically the guy you go to for spooky horror. We should take his selection as a clue that the increasingly intangible presence of Paul Walker will be explained as his turning into a car ghost.
